I competed at the World Wife Carrying Contest - I CAME SECOND (last)
Hello my dears! It's been an eventful couple of months,so I shall share the highlights. (On reflection...I think I will make that singular...)
I had the great honour of representing Ireland and The Principality of Hutt River at The 20th Annual Wife Carrying Race in Sonkajärvi, Finland.
Weighing in at 132kg, I know will never go to the Olympics, but I am always proud to represent my country. I could (like some of these horrid trolls) stay at home and criticise the efforts of other sports people and never participate in life and games myself, but I know through my positivity, I endevour to enrich the lives of others....maybe (in my own peculiar way) even more so than that the elite athletes...? :D
I have always hoped through my scoliosis/sciatica/size that I would inspire others to do something...anything...Bog snorkelling And Wife Carrying I know are extreme, but, If I can do something maybe you can too?
Finally,I would like to thank the People of Finland for taking such good care of me ! OF COURSE UNTOLD THANKS to Estonia's Mr. Teet Peetre for finding the strength to lug my carcass around the track. ÄITAH!
Spread kindness and love people!!

Eurovision Week! OMG!
For me, it started with ABBA's Waterloo, I have swooned over Johnny Logan and his old white suit and felt robbed when Linda Martin's "Terminal 3" was pipped at the post, overjoyed with her "Why me?" win. I have missed american wakes over Eurosvision. It's the one thing all year that makes me feel European.
Now, I feel the time has come, at 41 I am mature enough to be foolish.
I can't deny it...I LOVE JEDWARD. It's over. There. I have said it. It's out in the open. It's nearly as hard to say one is a Catholic as a "Jedhead"
Musically, they wouldn't be my current cup of tea, but youth must have it's day.
At the height of my own youthful exuberance I enjoyed Bros in the 80's...The crew, a generation ahead of me had the Bay City Rollers ...And before that... who cares? They don't read blogs...ha ha ha.
Jedward are inate publicity geniuses They can read the public like a savante absorbs an encyclopedia they are International stars and I wish them well.

Shouldn't you be working????
Hello! So your surfing has brought you to a new low...?! To think your boss thinks you are looking at spreadsheets and doing research...
Research this next...Wife carrying, bog snorkelling, World alternative Games in Llanwrtyd Wells in August. And The Principality of Hutt River. Have a great day! And remember, there's more to everything that meets the eye.

Nature never lies.
I saw them today. They were beautiful, graceful, unannounced and without luggage. Dancing..intertwining like the two lovers on the willow pattern
plate..The swallows have arrived; Summer has sent her landing party.
It's odd the things we use to mark out the year. For me, it was a conker tree in the "babies' yard". I loved collecting conkers in September..the joy of being the first person ever to see the little auburn nut... The Spring brought the sticky buds..The Summer brought forth branches, bent with lignified scolioses under the weight of candles and the green leaves. I could see all this from my desk...I hated school.
